Product Overview


The WHEATSTONE UnderWater  Motors :A dry-sealed submersible motor is a specialized motor designed to keep its internal chamber dry by using multiple mechanical seals to prevent the ingress of external moisture. Its core design principles are similar to those of standard land-based motors, but a series of reinforcement and sealing measures enable it to operate effectively underwater.


Key Features

1.The key lies in the “dry chamber” and the dynamic seal:

The interior of the motor is filled with air and remains dry. The main challenge lies at the point where the rotating motor shaft extends out of the housing, which is the “weak link” in the waterproofing system. It employs multiple silicon carbide mechanical seals (rotating and stationary rings) for dynamic sealing; some designs also incorporate an “air cushion” structure that utilizes an air chamber formed underwater to enhance the sealing effect.

2.Comprehensive Protection System:

Static Sealing: High-performance fluorocarbon O-rings are used at the housing joint surfaces to prevent high-pressure water from seeping through the static joint surfaces.

Enhanced Insulation: The windings are made of Class H insulation material and undergo a vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) process to ensure electrical safety in high-humidity environments.

Corrosion-Resistant Materials: The housing is typically made of corrosion-resistant materials such as 316L stainless steel to withstand seawater corrosion.

3.Reliability Monitoring: 

Many designs incorporate humidity sensors or multi-stage waterproof probes that monitor the sealing condition in real time. If the primary seal fails, the system can issue an early warning to prevent direct damage to the motor.
